David Muhammad - The first Mayor of Freedom Village
A man of absolute action, Brother David Muhammad came to the Freedom Village with his family in tow. His motto, I am in charge of my own success and holistically responsible for my actions.

Brother David Muhammad: A Man of His Word
A profile of David Muhammad, Freedom Village, Georgia
Some men talk about commitment. Others live it. Brother David Muhammad is the second kind, and Freedom Village, Georgia is better off for it.
A Man Who Answers the Call
Brother David is a former Lieutenant in the FOI, and he carries himself like it. He believes in his convictions, and he understands that convictions come with responsibility.
That showed when Chairman Hunter led a three-hour webinar and laid down a challenge: bring ten people to Freedom Village. Brother David didn't just hear that challenge. He met it. He reached into his own communities in Oakland and Baltimore, pulled folks together, and founded the Grove community here at Freedom Village.
Precise, Persistent, and Consistent
Brother David and his wife, Maria Muhammad, move with purpose. Everything they do is precise, persistent, and consistent. But what stands out most is this: once they commit to something, they take full responsibility for it. They don't look to anybody else to bail them out.
They arrived at Freedom Village with a 20-foot shipping container holding everything they owned, along with a mobile home. Then they dug in first and asked questions later, learning absolutely everything from scratch.
From the City to the Country
I won't pretend it's easy. Leaving the city for the countryside is a hard, tall order. The pace is different, the work is different, and the land has its own way of testing a man.
Brother David didn't take that on alone. He brought in his sister, his parents, and his wife, and he brought his brother into the effort as well. It became a family undertaking, and that's a big part of why it has worked.
Ironclad
Failure is going to come to anybody who tries something worth doing. That's just the price of trying. What makes a man ironclad is what he does after he falls short.
Brother David is living proof. When something doesn't go right, he works through it, and he pushes it on through to success every time.
A Pillar of the Community
I'll speak plainly here. Brother David is my Al-Amin, the person I trust most at this village.
He has involved himself deeply in the life of this community, working with people at every level and from every side, not only here at the village but throughout Hancock County and in Sparta, Georgia. He is one of the most visible faces of Freedom Village, and he represents us well.
The Example to Follow
If there's one man whose example every Freedom Citizen ought to try to live up to, it's Brother David Muhammad.
He's a pioneer. He's a man of his word. He's committed to action. He doesn't just put his money where his mouth is; he puts his back, his hands, his sweat, and just about every other part of himself in there too.
A Word of Thanks
Brother David, we love you. Thank you for your leadership, your example, and your word, which has never once come back empty. We're proud to call you a citizen of the Freedom Nation.
