Freedom Nation works because citizens trust each other. These guidelines explain how we expect you to behave, how we moderate, and how you can appeal. They are part of our Terms and Conditions.
1. Our core rules
- Respect people.
- Disagree with ideas, not people.
- Do not harass, bully, threaten, stalk or intimidate anyone.
- Do not attack anyone for their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or similar characteristics.
- Keep it legal.
- Do not post or arrange anything illegal, including fraud, scams, sales of prohibited goods, or incitement to violence.
- Protect privacy.
- Do not share anyone's personal information without their permission. That includes their address, phone number, ID documents or location.
- Do not post images or recordings of people who have not agreed to it, where they would expect privacy.
- No sexual content involving minors, ever. We report it to the authorities. Adult sexual content is not allowed anywhere on the platform.
- Be honest.
- Do not impersonate anyone.
- Do not create fake accounts.
- Do not spread content you know is false in order to mislead citizens, especially about votes, land or money.
- Respect intellectual property. Post only what you have the right to share.
- No spam.
- No unsolicited advertising, chain messages or mass messages.
- Marketplace selling belongs in the marketplace, not in chat.
- No investment or "get rich" pitches. Do not promote schemes that promise returns, and do not misrepresent Freedom Nation land as an investment.
- Keep the platform safe. Do not hack, scrape, overload or bypass our security. Do not upload malware.
2. Voting integrity
- No vote trading.
- Do not offer, give, ask for or accept money, goods, services, favours or anything else of value in exchange for a vote or a delegation.
- The same applies to not voting, or to taking back a delegation.
- No coercion. Do not pressure, threaten or punish anyone over how they vote or whom they delegate to.
- No impersonation or account sharing. Vote only from your own account. Never let someone else use it.
- Delegates act in good faith.
- If you accept delegations, do not misrepresent how you intend to vote, and do not mislead people to collect delegations.
- Delegates who have votes delegated to them may be asked to explain their votes publicly.
- No interference. Do not use bots, scripts, multiple accounts or false information to influence a vote.
- Reporting. Report suspected vote trading via "Report" on the ballot page.
- Penalties. Breaking these rules can lead to:
- the affected votes being cancelled;
- suspension of your voting rights; or
- removal from the community.
3. Chat conduct
- Chat is not end-to-end encrypted. Our moderators can review messages when someone reports them, when we investigate a safety or legal issue, or when the law requires it. Do not share anything in chat you would not want a moderator to read.
- Stay on topic. Keep group chats on their topic. Group owners may set extra rules, as long as those rules do not conflict with these guidelines.
- Ask before adding people. Get permission before adding someone to a group.
- Location in media. Photos, voice and video notes can carry your location.
- We keep this information with the file and do not remove it. There is no option to remove location data. Every upload screen shows the notice "Photos and video can contain the place they were taken. We keep this information with the file." If you do not want to share a location, do not upload that photo or recording, or turn off location tagging in your camera settings before you record.
- Do not upload other people's media to reveal where they live.
- Leave instead of escalating. You can leave any group, mute it, or block any user.
4. How we moderate
- How issues reach us. Any citizen can report a post, message, profile or listing. Moderators also review content flagged by automated tools.
- What we may do, depending on how serious and how repeated the problem is:
- remove or hide content;
- send a warning;
- limit features for a period (for example posting, chat, or marketplace selling);
- suspend voting under the Governance Addendum;
- temporarily suspend the account;
- permanently remove the account and end citizenship (subject to the land rules in the Terms).
- Emergencies. Where there is a risk of serious harm, we may act immediately and contact emergency services or law enforcement.
- Notice. When we take action against you, we tell you:
- what we did;
- which rule was involved;
- how to appeal. We do not give this notice where doing so would be unlawful or unsafe.
- Independence. Moderators do not decide cases in which they are personally involved.
5. Appeals
- How to appeal. Appeal within 14 days of a decision, using the link in the notice or Settings > Support > Appeal.
- Who reviews it. A different moderator, or the appeals panel set up under the Governance Addendum, reviews your appeal and replies within 14 days.
- What we consider. You can explain your side and attach evidence. The reviewer looks at the original content, your explanation and the rules.
- Outcome. The reviewer may uphold, change or reverse the decision. If it is reversed, we restore content and features where we can.
- Final decision. The appeal decision is final within the platform. Your rights under the Terms (including dispute resolution) are not affected.
- Account removal. If your account was permanently removed, the appeal is decided by the appeals panel with at least one admin who was not involved in the decision.
6. Reporting illegal content
You can report illegal content, or content that infringes your rights, at [email protected]. For copyright, send the details required by the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act to Freedom Nation Member Services, 3644 Covey Rise Farm Rd, Sparta, Georgia 31087, [email protected].
7. Changes
We may update these guidelines. Material changes will be announced in the app at least 14 days before they take effect, unless a change is needed sooner for safety or legal reasons.
