Life as a citizen

A community that shows up for you

Citizenship isn't a badge you earn and forget. It's a place you come back to: people to talk with, things to do together, a market to trade in, and a vote on community decisions. Everything lives in the Citizen Portal, on your phone or your computer.

Who decides

Decisions made by citizens, in the open

Freedom Nation is run for its citizens, and citizens vote on how the community grows. Community decisions are made by vote in the Citizen Portal, under the Governance Addendum every citizen signs.

  • Suggest an idea. Any citizen can raise an issue. With enough fellow citizens behind it, it goes to discussion and then to a vote.
  • One citizen, one vote. Every citizen whose dues are paid counts the same.
  • Trust someone with your vote. Hand it to a citizen you trust, for every topic or just some. Take it back, or vote yourself, any time before the ballot closes.
  • Check your vote. You get a receipt after you vote, so you can confirm it was counted.
  • Know the rules up front. Every ballot states its question, its dates, and the turnout and majority it needs.

Some matters, like changes to the Declaration that governs the land at Freedom Village, follow that Declaration and Georgia law instead: one vote per unit and no handing votes on.

We're starting gently. While we test the voting system together, results are advisory. We'll tell citizens well in advance before any vote becomes binding.

Our promises to you

How we treat our citizens

  • Honest money. Every price before you pay. No hidden fees, no fine-print tricks.
  • Easy to leave. Cancel your dues online any time; they stop at the end of the month you've paid for. If you hold land, we'll help you personally.
  • Paper whenever you want it. Ask for a paper copy of any document, free.
  • Straight talk about privacy. Chat isn't end-to-end encrypted, and photos keep their location data. We tell you this at every upload.
  • No investment talk. Citizenship and land are about belonging, never a promise of profit.
  • A kind word when things go wrong. If a payment slips, we tell you what to do next, never shout at you.
